Now that you have non-lead pipes, a septic system, a water system, repaired walls, and bathrooms, time to enjoy the fruits of your months of labor.
And it rains!
The view is obscured by the rainy weather.
Water drips into every room on the upper floors. It looks like a collection of buckets, barrels, cups, bowls, and every other water receptacle known to the twenty first century has been utilized. All are filling fast with water.
Fortunately there is no glass in the windows (yet) so just pour the water out the window!
Replace the roof!
And then there are the windows! No glass, so the wind whistles through the gaps in the shutters and the rooms seem cold and, well, drafty!
But the view has returned and is clear. The changing season has brought a fresh perspective to the view. Gorgeous!
More good news! Almost every room has a fireplace. The chimney sweep continues to cheer you as he reports that at least two of the twelve fireplaces can be cleaned and made functional! Wow! You feel fortunate. Then he says the other ten are beyond repair, must be replaced, and repointed or they will fill the villa with smoke, catch the wood beams on fire, and reduce the structure to a smoldering heap of stone, plaster, wood and mess.
Well, it must be done!
The fireplaces are rebuilt, fired up and the villa becomes a cozy sanctuary against the on-coming weather.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel! You have a dry, cozy house, with adequate bathrooms, plumbing, sewage, water and roof! What more could you possibly need...of course there is the view!
