And then...the Abyss!

Have you been here? Or are you there now?

And then...the Abyss

There were so many good things

So many strong things.

Bumps that fit the dips

And filled the hallow places

And made a whole

If only for a brief passing moment.

What if the dips had not overpowered the bumps

What if the bank account had not become overdrawn

If the good and bad had equaled out

And the balance had remained

And the 80/20 rule had prevailed.

A question goes unanswered.

The dips have all turned large and empty

Without the bumps to fill them

Permanent.

They overwhelm the wholeness

The why and how remain unknown

Never to be questioned and without answer.

Dreams go unfulfilled

Gaps are just expanded

No amount of striving or effort or wishing

Stands up to solidified deficits,

Fills the dips, and dreams turn to stone.

So many good things

And strong things

And wishes and dreams

Dips and bumps that clump together

And fall short of a whole

An un-joined ying and yang.

Just two spinning halves,

Traveling through space

Finding here and there an almost match

Another half to fit into

Trying to create a whole

Out of a dream, a wish, an illusion.

Behind every dream

An illusion.

Behind every illusion,

A dream.

For every dream-like illusion

An abyss.
