The Wisdom of Cats
You can just read these and laugh at some of them. Or you can think about why they represent wisdom. And how wisdom is not limited to cats, but transferable to humans, to life in general. Like all things worthwhile, it may take a few minutes of reflection and contemplation to determine a
deeper meaning.
What I learned from my cat:
Live in the moment.
If you feel it, do it. Don’t overthink it. See something fun and go for it. See something worthwhile and try it. Marie Condo was right…it will spark joy!
Sunny spots are for naps! That sunny spot may not be there tomorrow. Some days are cloudy.
Find a toy you love. Play with it now. It might be lost under the couch later!
Keep it clean. Spare moments can be spent grooming. Looks might be important, feeling spiffy is always important.
Explore every corner of your world. Can you move it, lay on it, sit in it, bite it, smell it, sleep on
it, feel it, experience it? If not, move on.
Love who you love. Make it obvious with time, touch and always remember to purr!
Avoid people you don’t trust. There must be a reason for that feeling.
Find a space. Make it your own.
Keep bags and boxes around. They might be handy later.
Spend time with yourself. Know who you are and learn to value it.
When you are happy….purr! It’s inspirational.
Hungry? Eat. Don’t confuse boredom or loneliness with hunger.
Find balance. Eat, sleep, and zoom appropriately.
If the door is closed, feel under it with your paw. Ta da! You are in the room too!
Look until you find it. Things don’t usually disappear into thin air. They are somewhere.
Want to snuggle? Do it. Tired of snuggling? Stop.
Something strange surprise you? Try to figure it out. If you can’t, play with it.
Too much noise? Too many people? Find a quiet place.
Can’t do tricks? You’re not a dog! Just be who you are.
Make biscuits when you can.
Touch the ones you love.
Eat what you like. Walk away from what stinks.
Drink lots of water. Running water tastes best.
Use soft paws on soft things.
No! means no.
Keep what you love in sight. Hug it. Play with it. Clean it. Snuggle it.
Slip and fall? It can happen. Act nonchalant and keep going!
Take a moment. The world keeps passing by with something new all the time!
Feel safe! Show your soft side. Tummies up!
Know where home is.
Indulge in texture. Rugs, pillows, screens, tree bark, grass, sand!
Live and let live. Not everyone gets to be a cat.
Birds are outside? Their loss.
Is it high? Get there! Change your level. Change your perspective.
Go boldly into that dark night.
Step lightly. Surprise people.
When you are unsure about where you stand, walk sideways.
Play in life like nobody's watching.
Tired? Nap.
Cats just might know more than we thought. Perhaps that is their secret to nine lives.
